Green and sustainability technologies take centre stage at ENGINEER and MARVEX 2023, IEM President Ir. Prof Dr Norlida Buniyamin highlights the need to increase urban resilience against systemic events to be able to reduce the loss of life and property damage.
“We need to reduce environmental impact to the adoption of renewable energy and resource efficient technologies,” she said in her opening speech.
Prof Norlida urged engineers to see themselves as nation builders and innovators. “We have to use new emerging technologies to save our environment. Hopefully, engineers engineering technologies will contribute substantially to the sustainability of our world.”
Similarly, MACRA President Peter Tan also shares the same view that the exhibition can be a springboard to enhance sustainability and address the climate challenges.
In his speech he urged participants to think of ways to inspire demand for sustainable products.
“This gathering is not only a celebration of the industry’s achievement but also an acknowledgement of the pressing global issues we faced and the need to address it.” He pointed out the more power we use today, deprives future generations of limited resources.
Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S, the joint organiser of ENGINEER and MARVEX 2023 believes exhibitions play a vital role in shaping the industry’s future.
“ENGINEER and MARVEX 2023 hold particular importance as they unite the Engineering and ACMV&R industry across ASEAN. This alliance binds us in a common pursuit of progress and sustainable practices for the future,” he said.
Following the exhibition’s successful debut last year, this year’s edition features more than 160 exhibitors and over 200 participating brands from more than 10 countries.
ENGINEER and MARVEX 2023 emphasised Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives of the industry, with an ultimate goal of shaping a sustainable future.
