Measure First, Save Smarter

You cannot improve what you cannot measure. At MARVEX, Ng Wen Bin, Senior Lecturer at Universiti Kuala Lumpur, showed why accurate measurement is becoming increasingly important for improving the performance of chilled water and VRF systems.

“Before we can implement or improve in energy saving, we need to measure first. The first step is to measure, then to verify, then to improve,” Ng said.

His session introduced practical energy balance and measurement methods that can help plant operators validate performance and verify actual energy savings, increasingly relevant as the EECA Act places greater emphasis on energy management. “We are going to have a lot of this kind of measurement and reporting,” he said.

The topic prompted questions and discussion from the audience, demonstrating the value of bringing practical knowledge directly to industry. “It is a good platform because we can have different people from different areas join this,” Ng said.

He also praised MARVEX as a valuable platform for connecting professionals from different areas of the industry.
