ENGINEER & MARVEX Strengthens Its Role as ASEAN’s Regional Connector with AFEO’s Maiden Forum, Engineers Without Borders

ENGINEER & MARVEX 2025 has once again proven why it is the region’s go-to hub for industry-defining conversations. Selected as the platform to host the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations’ (AFEO) first-ever Engineers Without Borders Forum, the exhibition underscored its reputation as a catalyst for regional cooperation and growth.

The forum’s launch could not have come at a more critical time. With ASEAN nations racing to unlock new growth opportunities, Engineers Without Borders provides an avenue to chart the region’s collective progress, focusing on three strategic growth triangles that will define ASEAN’s future: Sijori (Singapore–Johor–Riau), IMT-GT (Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand), and BIMP-EAGA (Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area).

These growth triangles represent more than geography, they symbolise ASEAN’s interconnected future, while the forum promotes cross-border collaboration and engineer mobility so that Malaysian engineers are not confined domestically, and likewise, engineers from across ASEAN can expand their impact beyond national borders. That is the inspiration behind this initiative.

Each growth area offers unique opportunities: Sijori is shaping southern Malaysia into a high-value hub; IMT-GT is opening doors to industrial and trade synergies in the South; while BIMP-EAGA is boosting intra-regional trade, investment, and tourism through infrastructure and development projects.

The forum was followed by the ASEAN Engineers Registry (AER) certificate presentation, a ceremony marking the continuous growth of the regional engineering community. Through the AER, engineers enjoy mobility across ASEAN, mutual recognition of qualifications, enhanced employment prospects, and greater access to knowledge-sharing, business opportunities, and R&D partnerships.

By hosting AFEO’s inaugural forum, ENGINEER & MARVEX not only provided a powerful platform for dialogue but also cemented its role as the regional connector driving collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth across ASEAN.
