Think You’ve Seen It All? ENGINEER & MARVEX Says Think Again

What if your ventilation system knew exactly how many people had entered a space and adjusted itself accordingly? Or you could make drinking water without a water supply?

These are the kinds of ideas that make ENGINEER MARVEX worth walking slowly. Beyond the big-ticket engineering systems are technologies that make you stop, look twice and ask, “Why aren’t we already doing this?”

At ebm-papst, the unexpected idea is not simply a better fan. It is a fan that knows when it needs to work.

The company demonstrated an IoT-enabled demand ventilation solution using a people-counting sensor. As occupancy rises, fan speed automatically increases to provide the ventilation required. When people leave, it scales back, reducing unnecessary energy use.

For Chai Yao Hsing, Senior Sales & Application Engineer, ebm-papst epSEA Malaysia, this represents a bigger shift from selling equipment to understanding how it performs.

“We are trying to think about what we can provide to customers instead of just our product. Our solution shows everything on the dashboard, what is wrong, the lifespan left and what it will cost to change. You can plan better for the future.”

And his punchline is difficult to argue with.

“If you are just selling a fan, everybody can sell a fan.”

A few steps away, EcoFlow offers another wait, what? Moment. Water produced from the air!

Its atmospheric water-generation technology draws moisture from humid air to produce water without conventional water piping. Jolene Tan, Director, Growth, EcoFlow said smaller units could serve offices, school campuses and outdoor corridors, while larger systems could support locations such as sports fields.

“They don’t need to build any piping or order water. They can just plug this into any three-pin plug and it will start generating water,” she said.

Malaysia’s humid tropical environment also makes the concept particularly interesting.

“For our tropical environment, definitely. As long as it’s in a non-air-conditioned environment, it will be suitable.”

That sense of discovery is part of what separates ENGINEER MARVEX from simply browsing a catalogue of familiar engineering products. It brings together technologies already changing how buildings and facilities can operate alongside ideas that may still be outside the industry mainstream.

Come expecting fans, pumps, cooling and M&E. Leave thinking about ventilation that responds to people and water that comes from thin air. Sometimes, staying ahead starts with discovering the thing you didn’t even know you should be looking for.
