Pekat Launches Its Next Generation of Power Protection

Pekat Engineering Sdn Bhd introduced its latest solutions in lightning and earthing protection, signalling where it sees the sector heading — connected, data driven and increasingly powered by renewable energy.

The new solutions introduce IoT-enabled monitoring capabilities to a sector traditionally focused on protection rather than prediction. Instead of merely protecting infrastructure, Pekat’s latest technology can collect data from the environment and power system, creating the foundation for smarter analysis and decision-making.

“Sometimes we need to use big data to convince our customers,” said Bradley Tan, Director of Operations at Pekat, highlighting the growing importance of data in demonstrating the value and performance of modern protection systems.

Sustainability is another part of that evolution. Pekat’s Storm Chaser and Storm Plasma solutions are solar-powered, operating without additional AC or DC power input.

Pekat sees the ENGINEER MARVEX as an increasingly valuable platform for introducing new technology directly to the industry.

“We find that the visitors are getting increasingly sophisticated,” said Jason Chang, Senior Engineer Product and Technical, at Pekat, pointing to stronger engagement at this year’s event.

The launch also comes as Pekat broadens its portfolio into areas including BESS energy storage and switchgear, with ambitions to take its growing range of solutions beyond Malaysia.

“We are ready to go overseas,” Chang said.

Over the years, ENGINEER and MARVEX has become a strategic launch platform for companies introducing new products and technologies to the market. Its ability to bring solutions directly before a targeted audience of engineers, consultants, specifiers, contractors and industry decision-makers gives new launches immediate visibility and valuable market traction, helping products gain recognition and generate industry interest.
