ENGINEER & MARVEX 2026 Opens, Bringing Tech, Knowledge and Talent Together for Malaysia’s Next Growth

ENGINEER & MARVEX 2026 officially opened at the KL Convention Centre today, marking a significant new chapter for a platform that is growing alongside Malaysia’s engineering, energy and digital ambitions.

As the country pushes towards a more technology-driven, higher-value economy, the infrastructure supporting that growth is becoming more complex and more interconnected. ENGINEER & MARVEX is creating the space where the technology, knowledge, expertise and talent needed to respond can come together, connecting engineering and HVAC&R with the emerging industries that increasingly depend on them.

Officiating the opening, Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation YB Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahman bin Haji Mohamad emphasised the role industry must play, “Over the coming decade, Malaysia has an opportunity to lead the energy transition. Its success will depend on the engineers and industry partners who turn policy into working projects.”

That challenge is also driving the continued evolution of ENGINEER & MARVEX. As Malaysia moves towards a more technology-driven, higher-value economy, the exhibition is widening the space where technology, knowledge, industry expertise and talent can come together to support the infrastructure behind that growth.

Taking that proposition into an important new sector this year is the debut of DCX Asia (Data Centre Exhibition Asia), themed Powering Asia’s Digital Backbone. Its introduction brings the fast-growing data centre ecosystem directly alongside ENGINEER & MARVEX’s established engineering and HVAC&R communities.

As Malaysia’s data centre industry scales, so too do the demands it places on power generation, grid infrastructure, cooling, water, energy efficiency and engineering capabilities. The Deputy Minister stressed that while Malaysia welcomes the growth of the digital economy, “we must ensure that our infrastructure keeps pace.”

DCX Asia therefore represents more than an expansion of the exhibition floor. It reflects the expanding role of ENGINEER & MARVEX itself in bringing emerging growth industries into the same ecosystem as the technologies, expertise and people needed to make that growth possible.

For IEM President Ir. Yau Chau Fong, ENGINEER & MARVEX brings two sides of that equation together: “The exhibition brings the technology, products and solutions, while the convention brings the knowledge, expertise and professional exchange.”

MACRA President Gan Chok Ser reinforced the importance of the industry ecosystem, describing a platform built around not only products, but “the people behind them, the knowledge we share, the standards we uphold and the conversations that move our industry forward.”

C.I.S President Dato’ Vincent Lim summed up the wider opportunity: “The region is investing heavily in energy, infrastructure, data centres, manufacturing and the built environment. The opportunity is there to connect the people building what ASEAN will need next.”
